Brittany Hamer

Administrative Assistant
Enrollment Coordinator

Hello my name is Brittany Hamer and I am the Enrollment coordinator and administrative assistant at Prairie Moon Waldorf School in Lawrence Kansas.

I was raised in Dallas Texas as well as in Southwest Oklahoma on my family’s cattle ranch. I grew up playing outside developing a love for hiking, tree climbing, horseback riding, swimming in rivers, lakes and the ocean with an occasional fishing pole in my hands. I became a water safety instructor as soon as I could, which led to the natural progression of becoming a summer camp counselor for grade school age children for several summers in a row. I have taught swim lessons to all ages starting with water babies all the way to senior citizens. This is where my love for children and education was born.

When I graduated from highschool I embarked on a grand adventure and moved to Southern Oregon. I really settled into Oregon and made it my home. I made wonderful connections which turned into lifelong friendships, Oregon is where I also built my own family. Some of the connections I made gave me the opportunity and the privilege to serve as a nanny for amazing families in the small town of Ashland Oregon. From there I was encouraged to become a teacher’s aide in education, which I enjoyed for several years. Budget cuts in the school system led me to working in the service industry for sometime. Then one of my friends who was a local artist asked if I would work at her boutique, and of course I said yes. I worked there for some time, then after 10 years of business my friend closed her beautiful shop. I helped in this process which was the catalyst for me to step into sales and project management for a geodesic dome company known worldwide (Pacific Domes.)  My love for education was still very much with me so when I had my own children I reached out to a family member of mine who is an old retired Waldorf Educator. I had many questions which led to many rich and robust conversations all around what Waldorf education is as well as what anthroposophy is. Once my children were old enough to be in a pre-school setting I found a wonderful Waldorf Early Childhood program that my family was involved in up until we made our move to Lawrence Kansas.

My family and I have now been in Lawrence and at Prairie Moon for almost two years. We are delighted to be a part of this amazing trend setting school filled with the best of the best. I am grateful for my opportunity to be a part of something that is helping to shape our future in a beautiful and positive way. Since I have started my journey as someone who is a part of the faculty and staff I have undergone a three day intensive enrollment and admissions training with a wonderful Soni Albright. I have also embarked on a  journey of a three year administrative Waldorf training. I look forward to learning all that I can, not only about Waldorf education but also about life itself. I am grateful to be where I am and to hold what I hold, Waldorf education is a beautiful and world changing education and I am proud to be a part of this amazing educational experience.

I look forward to keeping you updated on my professional development as well as the school's development.

Warmly, Brittany Hamer
