Our Approach
Prairie Moon Waldorf School in Lawrence, Kansas, offers Waldorf education from preschool (age 3) through middle school on seven rural acres in the Kaw River Valley. Prairie Moon is currently the only Waldorf school in Kansas and is an Associate Member of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America and the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America.
What makes us different? We are screen-free, our students have over 2 hours of outside time a day, and we offer a daily rhythm that is the same in Waldorf schools worldwide. That rhythm encourages embodiment and learning real tasks with their hands. Our specialty classes include Hand Work, Mandarin, Orchestra, Music & Singing, Movement & Games, and for the younger classes, Rest & Story. These classes often mean children graduate our program with more advanced skills than their public school counter parts, while also having more emotional regulation, a strong sense of self, and moving through the world as leaders of the next generation.
