Four Elements Summer Camps
for Grades 4–8

Led by Mr. Schacht and Mr. Deleon

We will observe the interplay of the four elements in our nature study. The spectrums of wet/dry, cold/hot, hard/soft, and light/heavy will be explored in relation to each element. Each week will be themed with one of the four elements, which will be our experiential focus. The mornings will contain our main crafting activity and any off-campus excursions. Our afternoons will begin with lunch, then continue our main activity and end with cooling time inside reading and writing on their experience.

June 11–15, 8:30am–3:30pm

For this week we will focus on the experience of the element of Earth. Our activities will include digging for clay, clay modeling, metal work, sand art and making cob to repair a cob oven for firing and food.

June 18–22, 8:30am–3:30pm

A week of fire. We will be making fire from scratch, learning about heat through building different styles of fire, creating a solar oven, and cooking food.

July 9-13, 8:30am–3:30pm

Air will be the focus of this week. Kite-making, archery, and frisbee will all be scheduled activities as we look at aerodynamics.

July 16-20, 8:30am–3:30pm

Our week of water will include boat-making, water play, canoeing and visiting bodies of water in our area.
