"What an amazing start to school for our 4 1/2 year old son. In the mornings he was shy about mixing with the other kids at first, and his teacher let him play in the corner by the door. She brought him a silk cloth to cover over the chair and make into a fort. He would join in activities a little later in the morning. After a few days of this, he arrived to find the teacher playing with a group of children in his corner. He quickly scurried off to another part of the room and joined in with some other kids. His teacher had given him space to do his own thing, then created a challenge that he could easily overcome. Now he's having a great time at school! He loves Prairie Moon. We love Prairie Moon. We couldn't be happier!"

"The change in our 3 year old daughter since she began at Prairie Moon is quite remarkable. The comfortable structure yet freedom for play and creation is exactly what she has needed. She wakes up happy and wanting to go to school, even on the weekends. The beauty and harmony in the room is a sight to behold. The community of parents is another aspect of the school that we so enjoy. We wish for every child to experience the magic of Waldorf."

"I stayed to observe (behind the two way mirror) for awhile this morning, and I found myself not wanting to leave. The children were doing what appealed to them at the moment. A couple were building with blocks, a couple were riding in a “boat†and talking. A small group of children was gathered around a table with Ms. Pat, who was helping them make a fall craft. Another small group was watching Ms. Rachel mix up oatmeal cookie dough. They talked about what they baked and ate at home. They talked about lady bugs and caterpillars and spiders. This led to a round of “Itsy Bitsy Spiderâ€, and kids from different parts of the room joined in. The children moved freely from one activity to another, from independent play to interaction with the teachers and back.
My overall impression was that the children are secure and happy here. It’s a gentle place, one that nurtures a young child’s sweet and inquisitive spirit. It’s also a place that teaches children to be kind to each other, and to pay attention to and value the natural environment. It’s a joy to find a school that “fits†both me and my son."
