Volunteer Positions

Prairie Moon Waldorf School is accepting applications for the following volunteer positions for the 2008-2009 school year. For an application please email administrator@prairiemoon.org or call 841-8800.

1st/2nd Grade Garden Volunteer, 3rd/4th Grade Garden Volunteer
The Garden Volunteer position is an ideal job for someone who holds a love for nature, reverence for children, a pioneering spirit, and creative energy. This is a great way to gain experience while learning more about Prairie Moon Waldorf School and Waldorf education. The position involves, but is not limited to, working with teachers to develop lesson plans, planting, tending, and maintaining a garden with children, organizing and caring for tools and garden materials, and bringing forth and implementing new ideas. The Garden Volunteers will spend one class period per week with the children and meet regularly with class teachers for planning and support. Must use organic gardening practices. Biodynamic experience a plus.

1st/2nd Grade Cooking Volunteer, 3rd/4th Grade Cooking Volunteer
This volunteer position involves, but is not limited to, preparing, cooking, and baking healthy food with children, while keeping a clean and organized kitchen. The ideal candidate for the Cooking Volunteer position will have good organizational and cleaning skills, awareness of safe practices in the kitchen, a love for fresh, organic, and nourishing food, and experience working with children. The cooking position involves spending one class period per week with the children and additional time meeting with class teachers to develop lesson plans.
