Compost

Prairie Moon utilizes a compost bin to turn its food scraps into valuable soil amendments for it's garden. At the end of each day, children help in this task of emptying the compost bucket which has collected scraps during the day, into the compost bin outside near the garden. The children will then get to see the rich product at the end of the cycle. They have discovered how little gnats love the compost bin. They have used it for fall leaves, and they see how even though the bin is filled daily, the food is broken down and never quite reaches the top.
